June 21, 2007:
Welcome to the first day of TATRApedia.
The main purpose for creating this site is the desire of building a scholarly, online database of vintage Tatra materials created around the world - factory and otherwise - which relate to the streamline Tatra models 77, 87, 97, and 600. At present there is no plan to include the Tatra 603 on this site.
An additional desire of this site is to promote the collection and exchange of vintage streamline Tatra material among Tatra enthusiasts worldwide. Anyone possessing such materials is encourage to forward them for inclusion in this site.
A 1967 cut-off year has been chosen because it marks Tatra's 70th anniversary and the passing of Tatra's pace-setting engineer, Hans Ledwinka.
Comments and suggestions about the site are welcome. So, please take a look and share your opinions.
I hope you enjoy the site!
Sincerely,
Hampton C. Wayt
